 Blachandran   was offered Sanskrithi National Award of rupees 20,000 for the best young writer in India in 1990, but he refused it and declared that he would never accept awards .

 He visited   USA, Sweden, Denmark, Quatar, Oman and Nepal.

 Balachandran represented Indian poetry in the international poets meet in the international book fare at Gottenberg, Sweden on 1 November 1997. He participated in many national poets meets organized by Centers of letters like Sahitya Akadamy New Delhi.

He accepted Buddhism in1999
